Radiologic Technologist Training Program & Leadership Academy
About the Program
Aligned with UCSF’s mission to advance equity and economic mobility, the Radiologic Technologist Training Program offers an accelerated 18-month training experience in Diagnostic Medical Imaging. Building on the success of UCSF’s Medical Assisting and Practice Coordinator programs, this initiative provides a streamlined, high-quality pathway to a sustainable and rewarding healthcare career.
Radiology is one of the most in-demand fields in healthcare. It plays a critical role in early diagnosis and patient care planning. Graduates of this program will be eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT®) certification and contribute to delivering faster, high-quality patient care.
Key Program Details
- Program Length: 18 months
- Cohort 1 Start Date: June 2026
- Application Period: October 13 – November 17, 2025
- Cohort Size: Approximately 15 students

Tuition: $15,000
- Potential tuition waivers, salary subsidies, or scholarships may be available for eligible UCSF employees based on formal review.
Eligibility and Prerequisites
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher (in any field)

Complete prerequisite coursework with a minimum GPA of 2.5:
- Medical Terminology
- Anatomy and Physiology
- College Algebra
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of matriculation
- Be eligible under ARRT® standards regarding prior felonies or misdemeanors. If this may apply to you, please review the ARRT eligibility process at the provided link.
Applicants currently completing prerequisite coursework may be conditionally accepted, provided all courses are completed with acceptable grades before the program start date.
Pathways to Entry
1. Career Pathways Initiative Program Graduates
Primary consideration will be given to UCSF employees who are graduates of the Career Pathways Initiative (Medical Assistant or Practice Coordinator programs). Eligible internal applicants may receive benefits such as tuition waivers, salary subsidies, and schedule flexibility coordinated with managers based on application review.
2. Incumbent UCSF Employees
Current UCSF employees who have not participated in a Career Pathways program may receive benefits such as tuition waivers, salary subsidies, and schedule flexibility coordinated with managers based on application review.
3. External Candidates
External applicants are welcome to apply. External candidates are responsible for tuition but may explore available scholarship opportunities.
Next Steps
Application Timeline:
- October 13 – November 17, 2025: Applications open
- Fall 2025: Candidate interviews
- Winter 2025/26: Final selections and verification reviews
- June 2026: Program begins
Additional Selection Criteria:
- Manager endorsement consistent with union or non-union policies
- “Meets Expectations” or higher on the most recent performance review
- Seniority, where applicable
